From Invercargill to Te Anau

We stayed in a motel on the outskirts of Invercargill. The best thing it had going for it was the TV provision and the fact that it was on the route out of the town on our way to Te Anau. Other than that cheap and cheerful.

Our route took us beside a stormy sea before heading inland to follow a couple of rivers.

As the day wore on so the weather improved and then clouded over, so that around mid-day when we were at Clifden and just beyond it was really quite hot.

I’ve included a few info panels of the stops we made, which will remind me, and may interest you, of what we saw :-). Just click on them to enlarge them so you can read them.

The photos from the day are once again to be found on Google+ Photos.

The place we stayed in Te Anau was very pleasant – the room was large and very close to the town. I liked Te Anau. We stayed here for three nights and got to know our way about. We spent one day (a cloudy, grey day) in Te Anau walking around, visiting the cinema to have the Fiordland Experience – such a great film that I bought a DVD copy of it. We dined the first night in an Italian restauarant – La Toscana which was pleasant enough, I think we did pizza and pasta. The second night, after a day just wandering around the place we ate at The Ranch where I had a steak – I remember that! The third night I can’t recall where we ate, we may have just used up some supplies from our supermarket store taken from the car.
