A terrific day ahead. We left our really very well appointed apartment at Kaka Point and it’s cafe where we’d had fish and chips the night before and headed off-metaled road into the area beyond Harington Point where we’d been the previous evening. Loads of birdlife to see and then spectacular coastal scenery. The strange thing was that walking along the coastal path to Jack’s Blowhols was just like walking along the coastal path in the Vale of Glamorgan, or The Gower – very similar.

Anyway, after the coastal walk it was going to be rivers and waterfalls all day. This is a much less popular tourist destination – off the coach trip trails and to that end we really enjoyed the walks through the forests and I enjoyed snapping a few more whispy rivers. We also met a couple from Israel with their children who were in a campervan and who made us a cup of tea and shared some cake and biscuits with us. A most pleasant interlude.

The last part of the day however was spent driving a really boring road into Invercargill which also would not win any prizes for being interesting either. Our motel was away from the centre of the town, and the place we chose to go to eat was closed so we had to cater for ourselves from the supermarket again. Not the best end to a lovely day.
