First outing for #duettovan in 2012

A bit delayed due to all the earlier excitement of the year we took in a trip that took us from south coast to north-east coast. Quite a drive! First stop was New Milton to see my mother and then, via a slight diversion to Bicester Outlet Village, to a nights stay at the Camping Club site at Staveley. From there on to Killingworth where we stayed with Jenny’s brother and his wife. We had a couple of really excellent walks with them whilst we were there, caught up with their children and grandchildren and enjoyed, as ever, their company, the food and the drink.

The first walk was through Jesmond Dene to The Quayside and some pictures from the walk can be seen below. It was an unsettled day, sometimes the sun came out and it was lovely, then the clouds came down and with it a typical NE sea fret.

The next day we walked from Tynemouth to St Mary’s Island Lighthouse. The weather stayed fine and we had a lovely walk, managing to fit-in a stop at The Briardene inn on the way back. Some pictures of Tynemouth Station Fleamarket which we visited first are shown below.

Pictures of the walk itself are shown below along with a map.

On our way back to Cardiff, we stopped off in Leeds and saw the Olympic Torch relay in Headingley, and at Kenilworth to see the Castle.

A trip to The Lake District with DeeJay & Penny

A lovely week with David, Penny and the dogs in Dipper Cottage on Coniston Lake, with a stopover with John and Jane on the way up and babysitting for Gail and Martin on the way back. The weather was very kind to us and we managed several walks:

Although we took #duettovan, we didn’t sleep in it; so the only trip it did was a trip to Furness and Barrow.

An inter-active version of the trip is available here.

One of the highlights of the trip was to see this little bird at the window of the cottage whilst we ate our breakfast.

We reckon (after some advice from Paul) that it could have been trying to see off a rival – attacking it’s reflection in the window. Seems a good theory.

Here are some pictures of the week – if you have Flash you will also see them below as a slideshow.
