To Table Mountain and around Pen Cerrig-calch

A walk with Cardiff Ramblers and Joe of nearly 10 miles with a long gradual ascent to Table Mountain and then a skirt round Pen Cerrig-calch maintaining height using sheep trails in the main and then a scramble up on to the ridge before walking the ridge back to Pen Cerrig-calch and then descending back to Crickhowell.

… and the Google Map is here.

The weather was overcast, but the heavy rain kept off and we had just a few showers of very light rain. Unfortunately the light never really improved so the photos are only momentoes of a very pleasant walk in excellent company.

Joe and I managed to find The Butchers in Rhiwbina on our return to Cardiff for a well earned pint … or two.

The inter-active version of the walk might be available at Table Mountain and around Pen Cerrig-calch at EveryTrail

Photos from the walk are available here.

Goodrich to Symonds Yat and back

I’d previously (on 28th March) done a walk to Ruardean Hill with Roger and Cardiff Ramblers, as well as a few former colleagues from UWIC who had joined the walk that day.

This was another walk in the same company. This time one of just over 10 miles in the Forest of Dean, alongside the Wye, below Yat Rock. It was also good to be in the company of John, another former colleague from Cardiff University, who was leading the walk today.

The Google Map of the walk can be seen here.
